Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression
Press Release

No Feds Patrolling Our Neighborhoods!

Yesterday in a rally in La Crosse, WI Vice President JD Vance stated that the Trump Administration would “love to help” us here in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (MAARPR) condemns any threats to unleash federal law enforcement on Milwaukee.

Last year’s Republican National Convention (RNC) made it clear that outside police do nothing but hurt our community. During the RNC, law enforcement officials from Columbus, Ohio, Columbus Police Department, murdered Samuel “Jah” Sharpe Jr. while patrolling outside of their designated perimeter. The five officers involved in the murder returned to Ohio where they faced no serious consequences for their actions. Milwaukeeans have no control over these outside forces. If the National Guard shows up to Milwaukee, the results are likely to be the same and will end in lives stolen from our community.

What is needed is community control, not federal control, of our city. Our neighborhoods have the right to decide how they’re policed, the City’s budget, and much more – the federal government has no right to decide these things for us in the City of Milwaukee.

If the Trump Administration truly wanted to help us, they would not have cut FEMA funding, cutting off thousands of Milwaukee residents from receiving financial support after devastating flooding. If the Trump presidency is serious about helping Milwaukee we need federal funding for programs that help our people, but we reject false “help” from federal law enforcement.

MAARPR wants to make this clear: No federal agents patrolling our neighborhoods!
