New Ad: David Crowley’s Tax Record Is a Burden Wisconsin Families Can’t Afford
WAUSAU, WI – Today, the Tom Tiffany campaign launched a new statewide ad highlighting David Crowley’s record of higher taxes and his own admission that he does not believe higher taxes are a burden on Wisconsin families.
When asked whether a sales tax increase would burden Milwaukee County residents, Crowley responded: “No. I don’t think it would be a burden.”
Crowley’s nearly doubled sales tax follows families everywhere they spend, from the package on the porch and dinner out to cars, electronics, furniture, and the appliance they need when the old one breaks. David Crowley made everyday purchases more expensive by adding another tax and then cut a cake to celebrate.
And that is only part of Crowley’s tax record. The ad also highlights five property tax increases in Milwaukee County and Crowley’s two votes against 10% middle-class income tax cuts while serving in the state Legislature, both of which Tiffany supported, including the tax cut Governor Evers ultimately signed into law.
“David Crowley says higher taxes aren’t a burden because taking more of your money has never been a problem for him. He raised property taxes five times, nearly doubled the county sales tax, and voted twice against a 10% income tax cut for working families. Crowley taxes your home, your dinner out, and the package on your porch, and still thinks government should take more. Wisconsin families already pay enough. As governor, I’ll lower property taxes, cut income taxes for working families, and return the state surplus to you,” said Tom Tiffany.
