Neighborhood House of Milwaukee Teens Volunteer, Learn Entrepreneurship Skills with GloBall Giving
GloBall Giving aims to promote healthy lifestyles options to underprivileged children.
Less than one month after Neighborhood House (NH) appointed Joe Chapman as their new Teen Program Manager, transformational change is already apparent. “Our Teen Program has always done good things with and for young people but Joe has brought an entirely new focus and energy that is creating exciting changes”, noted Jeff Martinka, NH Executive Director.
Evidence of this will take place on Monday, March 11th at 4:00 p.m. when Neighborhood House’s teens will join forces with GloBall Giving, a Milwaukee-based non-profit. GloBall Giving aims to promote healthy lifestyles options to underprivileged children. NH teens will spend their after-school time assisting GloBall Giving sort, pack and ship sports equipment to children around the world. In turn, GloBall Giving will provide NH teens with sports uniforms and recreational clothes to be used in upcoming 3v3 tournaments and other activities.
Chapman emphasized that volunteering leads to some essential life lessons. “It’s important teens learn and appreciate the resources that are provided to them. By giving back they will gain a better understanding and appreciation for services that look to improve our community”.
Martinka noted, “This kind of creative partnership will not only promote positive civic engagement among teens, but with Joe’s vision and leadership, GloBall will help teach NH teens about entrepreneurship.
To recognize NH Teens’ help GloBall will donate to the new student store at Neighborhood House. NH teens will be responsible for ordering and tracking inventory, cash flow and marketing. Proceeds will help fund other Neighborhood House teen activities as well as enable these youth gain real life work skills and responsibilities. It’s another step towards their preparation to enter the workforce and succeed”.
