Museum of Wisconsin Art Announces 10th Annual Bloomin’ Weekend
More than twenty florists transform the museum, November 4–6
WEST BEND, WISCONSIN (October 12, 2022)– Art and flowers come together for the 10th annual Bloomin’ weekend at the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA). The popular event happens Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6, giving guests the opportunity to view imaginative floral installations created by local florists and artists on display throughout the museum’s galleries.
Bloomin’ kicks off on Thursday, November 3 at 6:00pm with the unveiling of a spectacular outdoor digital art installation by Milwaukee muralist and visual artist Emma Daisy projected onto the museum’s exterior. The outdoor installation is free and open for public viewing each night 6:00pm–10:00pm through Sunday, November 6.
Featured artist Leslie Iwai will transform MOWA’s atrium with a spectacular enchanted garden with a large-scale floral sculpture installation featuring twenty-foot tulips entitled Tulips for Clemens. The installation pays homage to the exhibition on view—Magic Wilderness: Dreamscapes of the Forest which celebrates the bewitching glory of the Wisconsin wilderness.
This year’s annual event includes a series of workshops taught by floral experts on techniques such as how to create an evergreen swag or master the Japanese art of Ikebana to create a perfect floral arrangement. Workshops are $35 and require advanced registration.
Guests can kick off their holiday shopping in the MOWA gift shop featuring hand-crafted local goods made by Wisconsin artists and artisans for thoughtful gift-giving. Every purchase supports museum programming and the contributing artist.
Full details of the event and workshops can be found at wisconsinart.org/bloomin
