MPD Officer Involved Shooting
MILWAUKEE, WI— On Monday, January 6, 2025, at approximately 9:37 p.m., Milwaukee Police Department officers were on the 2500 block of South 7th Street seeking a subject wanted for sexual assault of a child and child enticement.
The officers were informed that the suspect was in a residence and made contact with him. While communicating with the suspect, the suspect pulled out a firearm. A struggle ensued between two officers and the suspect over the firearm. One officer discharged his firearm subsequently striking the suspect.
The suspect, a 19-year-old male, was arrested and transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries. His firearm was recovered. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
The officer that discharged his firearm is a 35-year-old male with over 8 years of service. He will be placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer involved shootings.
The Milwaukee Police Homicide Unit will be investigating this incident which is fluid and ongoing.
