On Friday, May 15, Milwaukee Recreation will host a youth arts & humanities showcase at North Division High School (1011 W. Center Street) from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Over 30 local organizations, which all receive funding from Milwaukee Recreation through the Partnership for the Arts & Humanities, will present on-stage performances, films, visual art, hands-on activities, and demonstrations.

Milwaukee Recreation operates the Partnership for the Arts & Humanities (a public-funded grant program) to support after-school, weekend, and summer arts and humanities-related opportunities for youth and families.

“This event celebrates the creativity, voice, and talent of young people across our arts and humanities programs,” said Erin Fonseca, Manager of Afterschool Arts & Humanities. “The showcase brings together participants from across the city to share their work with friends, family, and the broader Milwaukee community, highlighting the energy and creativity that make our city so vibrant. In addition to a dynamic resource fair and live performances, attendees can enjoy hands-on art activities, carnival games, giveaways, and refreshments. The event will also feature a unique Song Lab experience, where selected Milwaukee students will write, record, and perform a song live. The department invites the entire community to attend this event and support the artistic talents of Milwaukee’s youth.”

Milwaukee Recreation will also honor an Outstanding Young Creative and a Teaching Artist of the Year at the showcase.
