Milwaukee Recreation Earns Reaccreditation From National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA)
Milwaukee Recreation first earned accreditation in 2021
Milwaukee Recreation has been reaccredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) this fall. Milwaukee Recreation first earned CAPRA accreditation in 2021.
CAPRA accreditation is the only national accreditation for park and recreation agencies, and is a measure of an agency’s overall quality of operation, management, and service to the community. This mark of distinction indicates that an agency has met rigorous standards related to the management and administration of lands, facilities, resources, programs, safety and services. Achieving CAPRA accreditation demonstrates that Milwaukee Recreation meets high standards in these areas.“We are incredibly proud to receive reaccreditation from CAPRA and NRPA,” said Andrew Rossa, Milwaukee Recreation Interim Director. “This recognition underscores the hard work and dedication of the Milwaukee Recreation team in maintaining exceptional programs and services for our community.”
CAPRA accreditation is awarded to fewer than three percent of park and recreation agencies nationwide, with only 231 agencies out of more than 10,000 across the country earning the distinction. Milwaukee Recreation is one of only two accredited agencies in Wisconsin and remains the nation’s only school district-run agency to have received this esteemed recognition.
Milwaukee Recreation is a department of Milwaukee Public Schools, established in 1911 to enrich and strengthen the community by promoting healthy lifestyles, personal development, and fun through memorable recreational and educational experiences for people of all ages and abilities. Milwaukee Recreation is recognized as an accredited agency through NRPA and CAPRA.
