Milwaukee Police Officer Involved Shooting
MILWAUKEE, WI – On Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at approximately 9:07 p.m. Milwaukee Police Department officers responded to the 6400 block of West Sheridan Avenue. Multiple callers reported an active shooter in a second floor apartment. Callers described the suspect as an African American male wearing a black ski mask, blue jacket and black pants. While searching for the suspect, officers heard gunshots and advanced in that direction. Officers encountered the suspect matching that description on the second floor stairwell. Two officers discharged their duty weapons, striking him. An AR-style pistol was recovered at the scene.
The suspect, a 20-year-old male, was arrested and conveyed to a local hospital. He is expected to survive.
The officers involved in this incident are a 25-year-old male with over two years of service and a 30-year-old male with over eight years of service. They will be placed on administrative duty as is routine in an officer involved incident.
This is a fluid and ongoing investigation.
