Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley Appointed to NACo Board of Directors

WASHINGTON – National Association of Counties (NACo) President Gary Moore appointed Milwaukee County, Wis. Executive David Crowley as an at-large member of the NACo Board of Directors at the conclusion of the association’s Virtual Annual Business Meeting on July 20.

“I am honored to serve on NACo’s Board of Directors,” said Crowley. “Now is a critical time in communities across our nation and I’m proud to advocate for the needs of our constituents as a member of the NACo Board as we navigate our way through uncharted territory.”

Crowley was sworn in a as a Milwaukee County Executive in May of this year. Previously, he was chosen by the 60,000 citizens of the 17th Assembly District to represent them in the Wisconsin State Legislature in Madison. As County Executive, Crowley has laid out a vision to achieve racial equity by making Milwaukee County the healthiest county in Wisconsin.

Crowley is one of 10 at-large members of NACo’s Board of Directors. The one-year appointment will position him to help steer the overall direction of the association in concert with its Executive Committee.

“NACo and counties across the country will be well-served by Executive Crowley’s experience and dedication to public service,” said NACo President Gary Moore, judge-executive of Boone County, Ky. “Executive Crowley brings bold leadership perspectives to the Board of Directors as counties face unprecedented challenges and opportunities.”

NACo’s Virtual Annual Business Meeting was held July 20. The meeting included the election of NACo officers and other association business. This year’s meeting was held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. Over 1,000 county leaders and partners from across the country participated. View the video of the meeting here.
