Milwaukee County Board Supervisors Collaborate on Budget
Vote to Enhance County Services, Invest in Safety and Security
MILWAUKEE – Today, Milwaukee County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson, in collaboration with co-sponsors, authored a proposal adopted by the Finance Committee to enhance County services and invest in public safety.
Chairwoman Nicholson released the following statement following passage of the amendment:
“I am proud that County Board Supervisors were able to coalesce around this funding proposal to enhance critical county services, invest in public safety, and promote our cultural institutions. Together, we were able to build upon investments put forward in the 2024 Recommended Budget that will strengthen our communities and benefit residents across Milwaukee County.
“This collaborative proposal advanced by Supervisors is rooted in our guiding principles as the Board continues our work toward adopting a budget for next year that makes Milwaukee County a better place to live and play for all.”
Co-sponsors of the Chairwoman’s amendment include Supervisors Sumner, Rolland, Johnson Jr., Shea, Taylor (District 17), Wasserman, Gomez-Tom, Martin, Taylor (District 5), and Burgelis.
Chairwoman Nicholson encourages the public to join the County Board’s Annual Public Hearing on the 2024 County Budget. The hearing will be held this coming Monday, October 30 at the Marcus Performing Arts Center (929 N. Water St., Milwaukee). Doors open at 5:30pm, and the hearing will begin at 6:00pm.
