Milwaukee Brewers Launch Hank Aaron – What 755 Means to Me Contest
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers today announced the launch of the Hank Aaron – What 755 Means to Me Contest, inviting Wisconsin students ages 8-17 to reflect on the enduring legacy of baseball icon Hank Aaron as the organization commemorates the 50th anniversary of his historic 755th career home run.
On July 20, 1976, Hank Aaron hit the 755th and final home run of his career at Milwaukee County Stadium, a record that stood for more than 30 years and symbolized one of baseball’s greatest achievements. For Milwaukee, it served as a full-circle moment, as Aaron both began his career with the Milwaukee Braves and returned to finish it with the Milwaukee Brewers. Fifty years later, the Brewers will honor Aaron’s achievements on the field but also his profound influence as a leader, role model and advocate for civil rights and equality. Through this initiative, the Brewers aim to inspire young people to reflect on Hank Aaron’s lasting legacy and to encourage the next generation to lead with courage, character and determination, both on- and off- the field.
The contest encourages students to submit either an original essay (up to 500 words) or a video (up to 45 seconds) that explores how Aaron’s impact extended beyond baseball. Entries should reflect themes such as perseverance, resilience, leadership, justice and equality. Three winners will be selected and honored on field during the Brewers July 20 game at American Family Field.
Parents or legal guardians are invited to submit their child’s original essay or video inspired by Hank Aaron’s impact on baseball, civil rights and equality. Submissions can be uploaded beginning today, June 15 at brewers.com/HankAaron, where official rules and eligibility details will also be available. Submissions will be evaluated based on originality and their connection to the theme of Hank Aaron’s legacy and societal impact.
The contest is open to children ages 8-17 currently enrolled in a public, private or homeschool program and are Wisconsin residents.
