Milwaukee Bar Association Announces 2019 Pro Bono Publico Award Winner

MILWAUKEE, WIS., October 3, 2019 – To show its continue support of pro bono service by Milwaukee area legal practitioners, the MBA annually recognizes an organization, an attorney, and a law student for outstanding pro bono work with its annual Pro Bono Publico awards. The award recipients will be honored at the MBA’s 16th Annual State of the Court Luncheon Tuesday, October 8, Noon – 1:30pm at the Wisconsin Club.

The selection committee evaluated nominations employing criteria including: developing innovative ways to deliver volunteer legal services or improve access to justice, participating in activities that provide legal services to the poor or increase access to justice, and working on legislation that increases access to justice.

The MBA is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2019 Pro Bono Publico awards:

LOTUS Legal Clinic for empowering survivors of sexual violence by providing direct, comprehensive legal services, advocacy, and community education.

Attorney Tanya O’Neill, Foley & Lardner LLP, for being an advocate for our Milwaukee neighbors and fighting those who sought to benefit from fraud.

Law student Shelby Hahn, Marquette University Law School, for consistent commitment to those served by the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic and its Student Advisory Board.
