MCSO Arrests Subject in Reckless Driving Incident

Milwaukee, WI (August 27, 2019) On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at 3:32 a.m., a deputy sheriff observed a vehicle without license plates pass him on S. 43rd St. near Jackson Park. The deputy observed that the vehicle was traveling recklessly, at a high rate of speed. The deputy attempted a traffic stop and a pursuit ensued, which continued onto westbound I-94 and then onto Glenview Ave. in Wauwatosa. The vehicle rolled to a stop against a metal traffic post, and the driver, later identified as Robert Lewis ran westbound from the moving vehicle.
Wisconsin State Patrol and New Berlin Police Department K-9 assisted MCSO and conducted a search for Mr. Lewis, who was apprehended a short time later and arrested for 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Operating a Vehicle Without the Owners Consent, Vehicle Operator Flee/Eluding an Officer and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer. He also had an open warrant with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
The two passengers were identified; one is Donell L. Washington and the other is a juvenile. They both remained in the vehicle and were taken into custody. The vehicle was listed as stolen by the Milwaukee Police Department. Mr. Washington was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Without the Owners Consent (Passenger) and the juvenile will be referred to Children’s Court for the same charge.
