Marquette University professors receive Way Klingler Teaching Enhancement Award
The award grants up to $20,000.
MILWAUKEE – Dr. John Mantsch, Dr. Joseph Byonanebye, Dr. Nilanjan Lodh and Joshua Knox of the College of Health Sciences have been named the recipients of Marquette’s 2019 Way Klingler Teaching Enhancement Award.
The award grants up to $20,000, which this group of professors will use to establish a community of practice aimed at promoting health equity by understanding the widening disparities and inequalities in health care with faculty members from across campus and the Milwaukee community. The team will also help establish a new interdisciplinary minor in public health.
“By educating the next generation of leaders in health-related fields, Marquette has the opportunity to extend its mission of cura personalis — care for the whole person — and address a need faced right in our own Milwaukee community,” said Acting Provost Kimo Ah Yun.
“The ambitious and important work this group will do to understand the disparities in health care outcomes and establish a public health minor will have a ripple effect in Milwaukee and the broader, global community.”
