MADISON, WI — Wisconsin Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, candidate for U.S. Senate, announced today that he surpassed his record-setting Q3 fundraising numbers, raising more than $1.23 million in the latest fundraising quarter — the most raised by any candidate in this race to date.

The latest quarter brings the campaign’s fundraising total to over $2.3 million with nearly 50,000 individual donations since launching.

Mandela continues to lead with grassroots momentum this quarter:

$43.65 average donation

17,830 total donors

27,252 individual donations

Not one dime in Corporate PAC money

“Less than 6 months into his campaign, there’s no question that Mandela Barnes has built the largest grassroots coalition and is poised to defeat Ron Johnson once and for all,” said Kory Kozloski, campaign manager for Mandela Barnes for Wisconsin. “The outpouring of support from small dollar donors in every county in the state shows just how much excitement there is for Mandela and his vision for moving Wisconsin forward. Wisconsinites know they can trust Mandela to stand up for working people and fight to create good jobs and opportunities in every corner of Wisconsin – because that’s what he’s always done. Ron Johnson may have his big special interest donors in his corner, but Mandela Barnes has the people of Wisconsin behind him.”

In addition to these impressive numbers, the campaign announced that it had raised nearly $150,000 with over 5,000 individual donations in the 72 hours following Ron Johnson’s announcement last week that he was breaking his promise and running for a third term. Last week, Representative Gwen Moore, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi, and 60 state leaders also penned an op-ed calling for Wisconsin Democrats to unite behind Mandela Barnes to defeat Ron Johnson. Since the start of the new year, Mandela has earned the endorsements of Senator Cory Booker and Indivisible. The latest polling shows Mandela with a commanding 29 point lead in the Democratic primary.
