Maintenance to occur along Center Street Bridge over I-41

Beginning Monday, July 15, crews will be replacing a damaged bridge girder over the I-41/US 45 northbound lanes that was previously hit by an over-height vehicle.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is notifying motorists of upcoming bridge maintenance along the Center Street Bridge over I-41/US 45 in Milwaukee County. Beginning Monday, July 15, crews will be replacing a damaged bridge girder over the I-41/US 45 northbound lanes that was previously hit by an over-height vehicle.

What to expect

  • Center Street will have a single lane open for bi-directional traffic
  • Intermittent, overnight full freeway closures along I-41/US 45 northbound lanes
  • Signed Overnight Detour: Exit at WIS 100 (N. Mayfair Road) à  Continue north along Mayfair Road to Burleigh Street à Head west on Burleigh Street to rejoin I-41/US 45 northbound.

Work is anticipated to be complete by late August. This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change. More information on traffic conditions, work zones and travel times can be found at www.511wi.gov
