Local Game Developer Launches Nostalgic 1990s-Inspired Mystery PC Game
Milwaukee, WI — Independent game developer Robin “Birdy” Brown is set to release Gumshoe Detective Agency: The First Case on October 9, 2025. This retro-inspired PC mystery game takes players back to the dial-up era of the 1990s, where they’ll investigate the disappearance of Victoria Mason using a simulated vintage computer interface.
Blending classic detective storytelling with the aesthetics of early PC games, Gumshoe Detective Agency: The First Case invites players to dig through faux web searches, emails, and digital files to piece together clues. With its pixel-perfect 90s design and engaging puzzles, the game captures the nostalgia of the early internet age while offering a fresh, modern mystery.
“I grew up loving detective stories and computer games from the 90s,” said Brown. “I wanted to create a game that feels like uncovering secrets on an old desktop computer, where every clue matters and curiosity is rewarded. It’s both a mystery and a love letter to a bygone era of gaming.”
The game has already gained traction online, featured in Steam Next Fest, where over a thousand players added it to their wishlists ahead of launch. Now, with its full release set for October 9, the developer hopes to bring local recognition to a project that was created right here in Milwaukee.
Gumshoe Detective Agency: The First Case will be available worldwide on Steam.
