Lipscomb Statement on Lack of Vetoes in 2020 County Budget
"Today’s update from the County Executive’s Office that he will not issue any budget vetoes continues the cooperation between the legislative and executive branches during the 2020 budget process..."
MILWAUKEE – Board of Supervisors Chairman Theodore Lipscomb, Sr., released the following statement upon the announcement by County Executive Chris Abele that he would not veto any provisions of the 2020 Milwaukee County budget:
“Today’s update from the County Executive’s Office that he will not issue any budget vetoes continues the cooperation between the legislative and executive branches during the 2020 budget process, which was punctuated by the joint signing of File 19-831 at the start of Tuesday’s meeting. With that joint action, we continue our work together to secure a Fair Deal for Milwaukee County.
I thank the Board and the Finance Committee for their work to pass an annual budget for Milwaukee County that stays within our self-imposed bonding limit, adopts a levy that is lower than the amount recommended by the County Executive, and prioritizes investments in transit, County employees, public safety, and cultural facilities,” said Lipscomb.
