Libertarian Party of Wisconsin: the Election Is Over. Accountability Begins Now.
MADISON, WI — Following Wisconsin’s 2026 gubernatorial election, the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) is calling for accountability as Governor-elect David Crowley prepares to take office.
Throughout his campaign, Crowley made commitments concerning affordability, property taxes, economic development, government transparency, and local control. Wisconsin voters deserve measurable results, not another election cycle of promises followed by excuses.
“Winning an election is not a blank check,” said Reese Wood, Chair of the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin. “Governor-elect Crowley made specific commitments to Wisconsin residents. Those promises should be documented, scrutinized, and measured against the decisions his administration makes.”
The LPWI identifies several areas requiring particular attention:
– Property Taxes: Will Wisconsinites experience genuine tax relief, or will financial burdens simply shift between levels of government?
– Data Centers: Will Crowley eliminate preferential tax treatment and ensure corporations bear their infrastructure costs, or will taxpayer-supported corporate favoritism continue?
– Small Businesses: Will promised regulatory reforms actually reduce barriers for entrepreneurs, or will government continue favoring politically connected businesses?
– Health Care and Childcare: Will affordability improve without creating unsustainable taxpayer obligations and additional government dependency?
– Local Control: Will communities gain meaningful authority over local decisions, or will political power simply shift between government institutions?
The LPWI maintains that campaign promises must be evaluated through legislation, budgets, executive actions, and measurable outcomes rather than political messaging.
“Wisconsin residents should not have to wait until the next election to discover whether their governor kept his word,” Wood added. “When Governor Crowley delivers on his promises in ways that advance individual liberty, fiscal responsibility, and limited government, we will applaud those accomplishments. When his actions contradict those principles, we will hold him accountable.”
The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin will continue examining the incoming administration’s decisions, questioning the expansion of government authority, and demanding transparency in the use of taxpayer resources.
The election may be over, but the responsibility to hold government accountable has only begun.
