Leaders in Journalistic Excellence Recognize WISN 12 News with Top Honors During Recent Regional Competitions

The awards acknowledge the station’s distinguished coverage of significant news events in the state.

MILWAUKEE, WIS. (April 26, 2018) – WISN 12 News has received a total of ten first-place awards by three different renowned associations for important local coverage through exemplary broadcast journalism. These accolades include Emmy Awards, Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and Eric Sevareid Awards, presented recently by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Radio Television Digital News Association, and The Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association, respectively.

WISN 12 News was recognized with four Emmy Awards including Best Newscast, Best Public Affairs Program, Best Human Interest Story and Best Daily Interactivity. The Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards covered the categories of Best Newscast and Best Continuing Coverage, while The Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association acknowledged WISN 12 News with first-place distinctions in the areas of Newscast, Spot News, Weather and Documentary/Series.

The awards acknowledge the station’s distinguished coverage of significant news events in the state, including the opioid crisis, race relations and civil unrest, the U.S. Open blimp crash, and severe storms and flooding. In addition to being a recipient of these awards, WISN 12 has also recently received nominations for 25 awards by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and nominations for 11 awards by the Milwaukee Press Club.
