Justice-Elect Chris Taylor Endorses Judge Pedro Colón

MADISON – Justice-elect Chris Taylor, who was elected earlier this month with over 60% of the vote, today announced her endorsement of Judge Pedro Colón to join her on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

“Pedro Colón is exactly the kind of justice Wisconsin needs on its Supreme Court,” said Justice-elect Taylor. “His depth of judicial and life experience would be a welcome and important perspective to the court. Over his 15 years on the bench, he has proven to be a fair and impartial judge who treats everyone that comes before his court with dignity and respect. I have seen his work up close. I know his record. And I know he has the experience, the judgment, and the steady temperament the people of Wisconsin deserve on their highest court. I’m proud to endorse my friend, Pedro Colón and, next spring, I hope the voters of our state send him to serve with me on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.”

Taylor was elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court on April 7, 2026. She is scheduled to be sworn in on August 1, 2026. Before her election, she served on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and represented Madison in the Wisconsin State Assembly for nearly a decade.

Judge Pedro Colón is a graduate of Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was the first Latino ever elected to the Wisconsin Legislature, representing Milwaukee in the State Assembly from 1999 to 2010. He was appointed by Governor Jim Doyle to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 2010 and served for 13 years, winning election three times. In 2023, he was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals by Governor Tony Evers, becoming the first Latino to serve on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Colón and his wife Betty live on Milwaukee’s south side and have two adult daughters, Julia and Lily.
