Infant’s homicide a loss for the family and for the community

Statement of Alderman Khalif J. Rainey June 11, 2019

By - Jun 11th, 2019 09:17 am

Last week two-month-old Jaquerrion Dancer died after suffering skull fractures, hemorrhaging, cerebral edema and other injuries.

But the injuries were not caused during an accident.

The baby was injured when a man began throwing punches at Jaquerrion’s mother while she held him in her home in the 7th District. This is a sad and tragic loss, and my support and prayers are with the boy’s loved ones at this time.

The man was arrested, has been charged and now faces up to 60 years in prison.

The family has lost a beautiful infant to senseless violence and the community has lost a valuable member – someone who could have grown up to be a leader, a teacher, a friend, a life-saver.

Sadly, we will never know.
