Press Release

Incoming, outgoing VISIT Milwaukee chairs highlight strength of our city

Statement of Common Council President Cavalier Johnson July 30, 2021

By - Jul 30th, 2021 08:11 am

I want to extend my gratitude to Omar Shaikh for his five years of service as the board chair of VISIT Milwaukee. His passion for our city is infectious, and not many are as dedicated to championing Milwaukee as much as he is. Omar has been involved in numerous catalytic projects for our area, and throughout all of his endeavors the focus has always been on the people. He doesn’t know how to stop supporting Milwaukee, and even though he will no longer serve in this role, he will remain a strong presence in the community.

I’m also delighted that VISIT Milwaukee’s new chair is Eve Hall, CEO of the Milwaukee Urban League, and I’m proud to be a supporter of her nomination.

Dr. Hall’s track record in the business, civic and philanthropic spaces speak for themselves, and her drive toward creating a community that is representative of all Milwaukeeans is admirable. I’m confident in her new role as board chair, she will build on all of the amazing progress made by Omar and the outstanding staff at VISIT Milwaukee as we work together to showcase the first class city we call home.
