Incident Involving Subject in Jail Uniform
Milwaukee, WI (May 11, 2021) Today at approximately 3:00 p.m., a male subject was conveyed to the Milwaukee County Jail by a suburban police department due to a retail theft warrant in another jurisdiction. After the subject had changed into a jail uniform, circumstances were discovered that required the subject to be transported to a hospital for medical clearance before completing the intake process.
The subject was conveyed by the police department to a hospital in the vicinity of N. 13th and W. State Streets. At this time, officials in the jurisdiction that issued the warrant advised that they were no longer seeking the subject’s transfer. Accordingly, police personnel left the hospital. Shortly before 5:00 p.m., the subject departed the hospital, still wearing jail attire. During this time, the subject’s movements were reported to multiple law enforcement agencies due to concerns regarding his attire.
At no time during this sequence of events did the subject escape from the jail facility or from any escorting law enforcement officer.
