Gov. Evers, Evers Administration Release New 2025-2026 Wisconsin State Highway Map
New highway map uses GIS data for most precise map ever to help visitors and travelers explore Wisconsin
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers, together with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, today released the 2025-26 edition of the Wisconsin State Highway Map, which is now available in print and online to help Wisconsinites plan their next trip across Wisconsin. The announcement comes as this week, Gov. Evers and the Evers Administration are celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week, which runs from May 4 to May 10, 2025.
For the newest edition of the Wisconsin State Highway Map, WisDOT leveraged Geographic Information System (GIS) data and software, utilizing new technology to improve the traveler experience using a paper map. Although electronic wayfinding services are more popular than ever, demand for the latest version of this paper map remains high. WisDOT distributes nearly one million copies per edition.
“Our team looked under the hood and we’re proud to deliver the first-ever Wisconsin State Highway Map built using GIS technology,” said WisDOT Secretary Kristina Boardman. “This new map is more geographically precise and easier to maintain and update. Ahead of the summer travel season, drivers are encouraged to ‘know before you go’ with this map and 511wi.gov. Also remember to buckle up and put your phone down. Every trip, every time.”
The 2025-2026 Official Wisconsin State Highway Map is a collaborative effort between WisDOT and the Wisconsin Department of Tourism and features Wisconsin’s state parks, trails, and recreation areas, national scenic trails, historic sites, and veterans memorials, as well as Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads, Scenic Byways, and the Frank Lloyd Wright Trail.
“The Wisconsin State Highway Map is more than a valuable tool for motorists—it’s a resource for discovery,” said Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers. “Whether you’re road tripping to the Wonders of Wisconsin or letting wanderlust lead the way, this map is a guide for your journey of exploration. Because here, in Wisconsin, each bend in the road and community on the route is a destination ready to be discovered.”
Single copies of the map are available by calling Travel Wisconsin at 1-800-432-8747 or ordering online from TravelWisconsin.com.
Information for ordering multiple copies or laminated copies of the highway map is available at wisconsindot.gov/hwymap.
