Gov. Evers Announces Federal Disaster Aid Resources for Marinette County
Groups to deliver letter to Senators with over twenty organizations opposing the bill
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today announced that private nonprofit organizations in Marinette County affected by severe storms in Wisconsin on July 18-20, 2019 can now apply for low-interest loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration. The loans provide up to $2 million to help repair or replace physical losses caused by the storms, which downed trees, damaged buildings, and left thousands without power.
The announcement follows a recent amendment to a previous federal disaster declaration by President Donald J. Trump, which added Marinette County to the list of counties eligible for public assistance to repair damage caused by the July storms.
Other counties covered under the declaration issued earlier this year are Barron, Clark, Forest, La Crosse, Langlade, Menominee, Monroe, Oconto, Oneida, Outagamie, Polk, Portage, Rusk, Shawano, Vernon, Waupaca, and Wood. The declaration also includes the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin.
Private nonprofit organizations in the counties covered under the federal disaster declaration have until Oct. 28, 2019 to apply for a disaster loan to repair physical damages. Organizations operating in Marinette County may apply after the deadline stating they were not previously aware of the SBA eligibility. The deadline to submit economic injury applications is May 27, 2020.
Applications are available through the SBA’s secure Electronic Loan Application (ELA) website at https://DisasterLoan.sba.gov.
