GOP Pushes Door Open Further for Cronyism and Corruption
"It is simply astonishing how dead-set they are on allowing cronyism and corruption to infiltrate our government..."
MADISON – Wisconsin State Representative Mandela Barnes (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement regarding today’s vote on the Assembly floor to gut our state’s civil service system and streamline opportunities for cronyism and corruption:
“Needlessly demolishing our state’s proud civil service system only pushes the door open further for cronyism and corruption in our state. Instead, we should be working to strengthen and preserve integrity in Wisconsin public service by establishing more security, accountability, and fairness to a system that ensures the best and brightest are serving our neighborhoods and families.
“If Wisconsin Republicans worked as hard for families fighting to make ends meet and remain safe and secure in their neighborhoods as they work to protect their political self-interests, their caucus would be full of candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize. It is simply astonishing how dead-set they are on allowing cronyism and corruption to infiltrate our government when we could be doing so much more to provide opportunities for everyday Wisconsinites to thrive and succeed in life.
“What we have witnessed the past week is a sustained assault on Wisconsin communities that betrays our constituents with self-serving political motivations, cuts deep into our local public schools, denies health care to our families, and makes our communities less safe and secure.”
