Girls Rock MKE Announces Summer Showcase Concerts at The Cooperage

Advance Tickets Now on Sale; Volunteers and Paid Keys Instructor Sought for Both Camp Sessions

By - Jun 19th, 2026 11:00 am

MILWAUKEE, WI — Girls Rock MKE, Milwaukee’s nonprofit organization that uses music to empower the voices of underrepresented gender identities and gender-expansive youth, is excited to announce its summer camp season, which is right around the corner. In these camps, children form a band at the beginning of the week, write a song, then perform the song they wrote at the Showcase at the end of the week.

We invite everyone to celebrate the next generation of musicians at our post-camp showcases! There will be face painting, photo booths, and most importantly, specialty cocktails for those 21+.

Advance tickets are now on sale for both events, which will be held at The Cooperage (822 S. Water St., Milwaukee, WI 53204).

Session 1 Showcase — Sunday, July 19, 2026

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. | Show begins at noon | The Cooperage, 822 S. Water St.

Following a week of intensive music instruction, campers from Session 1 (July 13–17) will take the stage to perform original songs written with bands they formed and on instruments they learned — all in one week. The event is family-friendly and all ages are welcome. Kids 10 and under are admitted free. Advance tickets are available; a sliding-scale door cover of $10–$20 will also be offered at the door. Merch, refreshments, and food trucks will be on site.

Session 2 Showcase — Sunday, August 9, 2026

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. | Show begins at noon | The Cooperage, 822 S. Water St.

Session 2 campers (August 3–7) will close out the 2026 summer season with their own showcase performance. Same format, same energy, same offerings, but with a whole new batch of bands. All ages welcome; kids 10 and under free. Food trucks, merch, and refreshments available.

Both showcases are presented with support from media partners 88.9 Radio Milwaukee, HYFIN, and WMSE. Free parking is available in the lot and on the street at The Cooperage.

Volunteer and Employment Opportunities Still Available

Girls Rock MKE is still seeking volunteers for both summer camp sessions. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a safe, empowering environment for campers and contribute their skills as band coaches, instrument instructors, workshop facilitators, and more.

Girls Rock MKE is also hiring a paid Lead Instrument Instructor for Keys (keyboard) for both camp sessions. This is a paid seasonal employee (W-2) position. If you play keys and want to share your skills with the next generation of musicians, we want to hear from you. Paid staff must be available throughout the camp week. Please see schedule in the application before applying.
