Garden District tree mulching event returns this Saturday

13th District Alderman Scott Spiker, the Garden District Neighborhood Association, the City of Milwaukee, and the Department of Public Works will be hosting the third annual Christmas tree “Mulch-O-Rama” event on Saturday, January 11 from 10 a.m. – noon at S. 6th St. and W. Norwich Ave. (just south of W. Howard Ave.).

Area residents are encouraged to participate in this event to help provide much needed mulch (with help from city crews) for use in the Garden District community gardens space. Please note that trees should not be wrapped or bagged, and all decorations and ornaments should be removed from trees beforehand. Additionally, non-working Christmas lights will be collected for proper recycling.

Participants can drive up to unload, and there will be free hot chocolate and cookies.

Residents can also continue to utilize curbside collection of Christmas trees through the end of January. Further info can be found at www.milwaukee.gov/holiday-trees.
