Four criminally charged in shots fired incident

On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at approximately 9:13 p.m., MPD officers responded to a ShotSpotter call on the 2000 block of West Center Sheet. Upon arrival, officers heard several shots being fired in the area. As officers walked in the area they encountered a subject who was shooting a firearm in their direction. One officer returned fire; however, the suspect fled and has not yet been taken into custody. Four suspects were arrested in connection to this incident.

On Sunday, June 7, 2020, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges against those individuals.

Solomon Austin III was charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. If found guilty, Austin could face up to 10 years in prison and fined up to $25,000.

Donte L. Gladney was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon. If found guilty, Gladney could face up to 21 years, 6 months in prison and fined up to $70,000.

Nathan Haynes was charged with one count of possession of a firearm by an out-of-state felon and one count of endangering safety by use of dangerous weapon. If found guilty, Haynes could face up to 10 years, 9 months in prison and fined up to $35,000.

Willie E. Pirtle Jr was charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, one count of obstructing an officer, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, three counts of felony bail jumping and one count of misdemeanor bail jumping. If found guilty, Pirtle could face up 30 years, 3 months in prison and fined up to $85,000.

Milwaukee Police continues to seek an unknown suspect who fired shots at officers.
