Forest County Potawatomi’s Annual Hunting Moon (Gi Wse Gises) Pow Wow Scheduled for Oct. 14-16
Event to be held at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena; free fun for the public.
MILWAUKEE (Sept. 22, 2016) – Guests will experience a celebration of dancing, singing and drumming, as a centuries-long Native American tradition returns to Milwaukee from Oct. 14-16 at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The Forest County Potawatomi’s annual Hunting Moon (Gi Wse Gises) Pow Wow is free and open to the public.
More than 600 dancers and 12 drum groups from throughout the United States are expected to perform at this year’s event. Prize money to be awarded totals more than $100,000.
Doors will open at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, with Grand Entry scheduled for 7 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 15, doors will open at 10 a.m. with Grand Entry scheduled for 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 16, doors will open at 10 a.m. with Grand Entry scheduled for noon.
Like other celebrations, Pow wows also feature Native American foods and handmade crafts.
