Finance and Personnel Committee amends, recommends approval of 2022 budget

By - Oct 28th, 2021 03:55 pm

The Finance and Personnel Committee today amended and recommended approval of the 2022 City of Milwaukee budget. The recommendation for approval comes after discussion on more than 30 proposed amendments to the budget.

Committee chair Alderman Michael J. Murphy appreciates the collaborative effort throughout the process. “I’m proud that today the Finance and Personnel Committee recommended approval of a budget that has virtually no additional impact to taxpayers, and does not raise any other municipal fees,” he said. “All the while we were able to provide additional support to initiatives that will improve quality of life for residents, make a sizeable deposit into the City’s pension reserve fund, and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.”

“I also want to thank my colleagues, the public and the countless city staffers who all played a key role throughout the budget process, and I look forward to budget adoption day next week,” Ald. Murphy added.

The amended 2022 budget will now go before the full Common Council during an upcoming meeting scheduled for Friday, November 5 at 9 a.m. All budget amendments, including those recommended for approval, those that were voted down and those submitted under the 24-hour rule, will be heard during this meeting. The meeting will be televised live on the City Channel (channel 25 on Spectrum Cable and channel 99 on AT&T U-Verse in the City of Milwaukee) and via streaming video on the city website at city.milwaukee.gov/Channel25.
