Federal funding bill includes devastating cut to 6th Street improvements funding, hurting residents and businesses
Statement of Council President José G. Pérez
I’m extremely disappointed that the federal government would take this action. Cities cannot plan and there can be no vision when promises like this are broken. This is no way to conduct government, and I will continue to advocate for the needed improvements to this major corridor. When funding does become available — and it eventually will — we’ll be prepared to jump on the opportunity. Sixth Street serves a large section of this community, north and south, and the people who live along it, build business near it, and drive it every day deserve better.
