Federal Appeals Court Blocks Mifepristone
MADISON – A federal appeals court blocked mifepristone — a medication used to induce an abortion — from being sent through the mail Friday, the latest attempt by the far right to eliminate reproductive freedom for Americans.
Following the breaking news, Sen. Kelda Roys (D-Madison) published this video and issued the following statement:
“This is an emergency that will have devastating, deadly consequences in Wisconsin and across the nation. Republican politicians like Tom Tiffany have pushed national abortion bans and worked to make abortion and birth control more difficult to access. Today, a right-wing court gave them precisely what they wanted.
“Anti-choice politicians make us all less safe, less free, and less prosperous – abortion is health care, and politicians should never overrule our own decisions about our lives, our health, and our ability to have a family.
“Abortion rights are overwhelmingly popular in Wisconsin and nationwide. Right now is the time to turn anger into action – and that means spreading this information far and wide so that everyone knows what is at stake. Go to AidAccess.org right now to order an advance prescription of medication abortion while you still can.
“We have the power to elect champions for reproductive freedom. We can defeat anti-choice politicians and policies by standing together, organizing, and fighting back.”
