Dr. Terence N. Thomas Scholarship Fund continues to make an impact on local youth

Statement of Common Council President Cavalier Johnson August 12, 2020

Recently, the Dr. Terence N. Thomas Scholarship Fund announced their annual scholarship recipients for the 2020-21 academic year. The eleven scholars selected are sure to be the future leaders of our community, and I want to congratulate them on receiving this scholarship while also wishing them the best in their academic journey.

The Dr. Terence N. Thomas Scholarship can make a lasting impact on the lives of young people. As a former recipient of this scholarship myself, I know just how committed the organizers are to ensuring local young people succeed and making sure they continue their excellence throughout the entirety of college. Having that extra level of support can make all the difference.

I also want to thank the sponsors and donors who have helped this fund distribute more than $1 million in scholarships since 1992. Their dedication, along with support from the Milwaukee Community Journal and in particular Mrs. Patricia Pattillo, has helped uplift young people in our community for years and will continue to do so into the future.
