Downtown’s summer trolleys to ring again June 5

Downtown Milwaukee’s trolley service, the Milwaukee Trolley Loop presented by VISIT Milwaukee, will roll out Thursday, June 5.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (April 18, 2014) – Downtown Milwaukee’s trolley service, the Milwaukee Trolley Loop presented by VISIT Milwaukee, will roll out Thursday, June 5. Operated by Transit Express, the privately funded service will run Thursdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., June 5 through Sept. 6. One complete loop is 40 minutes. Two trolleys will service the “Hop ‘n Shop, Wine ‘n Dine” route to connect visitors to downtown attractions. Rides are $1 per trip.

“The Milwaukee Trolley Loop is a valuable service to our downtown community,” said Beth Weirick, CEO of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. “Affordable and user-friendly public transportation remains a priority for residents and out-of-town guests. We’re grateful for the support to deliver another season of service.”

Attractions along the Milwaukee Trolley Loop route include the Milwaukee Public Market, Wisconsin Center, Milwaukee Public Museum, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin, Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, boat tours and the theater and hotel districts. The route also encompasses downtown’s many restaurants, shops, spas and salons.
The privately funded service is currently supported by its two lead contributors, VISIT Milwaukee and
Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, with additional support from the Historic Third Ward Association, Harley-Davidson Museum, Milwaukee Art Museum, The Shops of Grand Avenue and Usinger Foundation.
