WAUSAU, WI – Yesterday, Daily Caller reported on Democrat candidate for Wisconsin Governor David Crowley approving tens of millions of dollars to go to his wife’s employer while he oversaw Milwaukee County.

According to Daily Caller, “Democratic Wisconsin gubernatorial nominee David Crowley oversaw Milwaukee County as it distributed millions in federal rental assistance through a nonprofit that employed his wife…

The nonprofit, known as Community Advocates, received the funding through Milwaukee County’s Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA2) program, which provides aid to renters facing housing insecurity. Milwaukee County distributed more than $65 million in federal ERA2 funds through its partnership with Community Advocates since June 2020.”

David Crowley’s wife, “began working at Community Advocates in 2020, the same year her husband took office, according to a 2026 interview on Civic Media. She was later promoted to director of the Rental Housing Resource Center.”

Crowley’s wife was promoted after millions of dollars went to her employer. Subsequently, “her compensation align[ed]” with her new title. Community Advocates confirmed to the Daily Caller that Crowley gave final approval to the contract.

In response to this concerning revelation by the Daily Caller, the Tom Tiffany campaign asked: “David Crowley has steered over $65 million in federal taxpayer dollars to a nonprofit that employs his wife. His wife started working at Community Advocates in 2020, the same year he was first elected Milwaukee County executive. Milwaukee County has since distributed more than $65 million in taxpayer assistance through its partnership with Community Advocates. Did Crowley disclose this as a conflict of interest? Did his family personally profit from this aid?”
