Cycling, Community and Tradition: 47th Annual Café Hollander Otto Wenz Downer Classic Returns to Historic Downer Avenue
Milwaukee, WI (May 31, 2026) – Returning to the Historic Downer Avenue Business Improvement District on Saturday, June 27, the Café Hollander Otto Wenz Downer Classic bike race presented by ISCorp is set and ready to roll! Downer is excited to once again host one the nation’s largest competitive cycling series in the country, Tour of America’s Dairyland on day 10 of the race series. The 11-day competitive racing event brings riders from amateurs to professionals to communities in Southeast Wisconsin. Over the years the race has grown in popularity, attracting racers from 40 U.S. states and 15 countries.
In addition to elite racing, the Café Hollander Otto Wenz Downer Classic features family-friendly activities during the Community Hour, including the Bel Air Cantina Kid’s Roll and a bike decoration station sponsored by Pop & Joy Co. To reward the participants, Breadsmith will be providing cookies to celebrate. For all the runners out there, the Dairyland Mile, back for a third year, with a 1-mile running race hosted by Infinity Running.
“The Café Hollander Otto Wenz Downer Classic has become one of Milwaukee’s premier summer traditions, bringing together world-class athletes, local businesses and families for a day of competition and community,” said Janet Henning, executive director of the Historic Downer Avenue BID.
Café Hollander will keep the momentum going with food and drinks on Hackett Avenue. The race promises electric energy that will be shared across all age categories. Tight turns and a lively finish-line celebration make the Downer Classic a perfect summer event for racers and spectators alike!
