County Supervisors Advance Logsdon Measure to Develop Code of Conduct for Board Members
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Board’s Committee on Finance approved a budget amendment authored by Supervisor Patti Logsdon and cosponsored by Supervisors Deanna Alexander, Felesia A. Martin, Anne O’Connor, Willie Johnson, Jr., and Shawn Rolland that directs the development of a formal Code of Conduct for members of the County Board of Supervisors.
The amendment requests that the Office of Corporation Counsel (OCC) and the Department of Human Resources are requested to develop a Code of Conduct for County Board review and approval based on the principles outlined in Milwaukee General Ordinance (MCGO) $ 1.29, Decorum of supervisors in committee meetings.
The proposed Code of Conduct will:
- Clearly define prohibited conduct for County Board Supervisors;
- Establish a fair and transparent process for receiving and resolving complaints;
- Outline proportionate sanctions and associated voting requirements; and
- Align with state law, County Board Rules, and existing ethics and workplace policies.
The OCC and the Department of Human Resources are requested to provide a report and draft ordinance to the County Board no later than March 2026. The amendment carries no tax levy impact. According to Logsdon:
“This action strengthens accountability, fairness, and transparency within Milwaukee County government. A clearly defined Code of Conduct ensures that all Supervisors, and by extension, the public we serve, can have confidence in the integrity of our deliberations and decision-making.”
