By - Nov 4th, 2021 01:02 pm

MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley issued the following statement in observance of the Diwali holiday:

“I’m happy to join Milwaukee County’s Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Buddhist residents in celebrating Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights. This is a joyful holiday that celebrates the spiritual triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and love over hatred.

“As the we all work to recover from the pandemic, the holiday is a welcome reminder of the power of optimism, love, and unity. May this Diwali bring us all joy and allow love and compassion to enter our hearts in the new year. It is my hope that this year’s festival of lights inspires every resident to see the humanity in their fellow neighbor and to extend love, optimism, and support to those around them.

“I wish a happy Diwali to everyone celebrating, here in Milwaukee County and around the world.”
