Congresswoman Gwen Moore Votes to Pass Legislation to Secure Right to Contraceptive Care
Today, Congresswoman Moore voted in support of the Right to Contraception Act, which establishes a statutory right to protect access to contraceptives and ensures health care professionals can continue providing patients with essential contraceptive care.
The ability to access birth control pills, emergency contraception, and IUDs are critical to a women’s ability to plan her own future, including when and if to start a family. I proudly voted for the Right to Contraception Act to safeguard this essential right for women everywhere.”
The Right to Contraception Act will:
- Protect against any extreme laws enacted at the state level attempting to limit access to contraceptives and affirms the Attorney General’s enforcement authority to bring civil actions against any state that attempts to do so.
- Establish a private right of action for individuals to enforce their right to access contraceptives and for health care professionals to enforce their right to provide contraceptives and vital information related to contraception.
