Congresswoman Gwen Moore Votes No on Providing Billions More to Immigration Enforcement

Today, Congresswoman Moore voted against the 2026 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations bill and released the following statement:

“Despite repeated efforts by House and Senate Democrats to push for stronger accountability provisions, this bill fails to rein in a rogue agency that is creating fear in our communities, trampling on due process, detaining U.S. citizens, and using cruel and unnecessary tactics that consistently flout the law.

For instance, this legislation allows DHS to continue immigration operations in sensitive locations, such as schools, places of worship, and hospitals. It fails to require immigration officials to wear identification or to limit the use of masks by those officials unless absolutely necessary. It doesn’t secure strong requirements that ICE comply with use of force guidelines to address too many instances of excessive use of force. The bill also wouldn’t block the detention of American citizens. At the end of the day, this bill fails to implement any meaningful reforms that would protect our communities while still allowing for enforcement of our immigration laws.

Without these and other key reforms that Congress can enact using its power of the purse, I remain concerned that these abuses will only continue in our communities. We owe it to our communities to do more. After Republicans voted for $190 billion in additional funding for immigration enforcement in their so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill without any safeguards, I cannot support a bill that provides more funds to immigration enforcement.”

In addition to voting against this legislation, Congresswoman Moore supported a resolution to impeach DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.

  1. Duane says:

Thank you Gwen Moore! Unfortunately as is always the case there are always enough Democrats to go against the will of the voters. In this case there are 7 “turncoats”,

    Rep. Tom Suozzi (New York)
    Rep. Henry Cuellar (Texas)
    Rep. Don Davis (North Carolina)
    Rep. Laura Gillen (New York)
    Rep. Jared Golden (Maine)
    Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (Texas)
    Rep. Marie Glusenkamp Perez (Washington)

Particularly nauseating is that Henry Cuellar was one of them. “Law and Order” President Trump pardoned Cuellar on federal bribery and money laundering charges about a month ago. The corrupt Democrat was also allowed to stay on the House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Homeland Security as Democrats voted 17-7 to restore him on that Committee.

“It’s not everything we wanted,” said Cuellar, a senior Democrat on the Appropriations Committee. “We wanted more oversight. But Democrats don’t control the House, the Senate or the White House. What we were able to do was add some oversight over Homeland.”

    Eff u you POS.
