Congressman Mark Pocan Endorses Judge Pedro Colón
MADISON – Today, Congressman Mark Pocan announced his endorsement of Judge Pedro Colón to be Wisconsin’s next Supreme Court justice.
“Pedro Colón has spent his career as a bold, principled leader who has never shied away from standing up for our state Constitution when it mattered most, even when it wasn’t popular,” said Rep. Mark Pocan. “Time and again, he has shown that he will stand up for Wisconsin and the values we hold dear. Wisconsin needs a justice who will defend the basic rights and freedoms that are being threatened today. Pedro’s lived experience, unwavering integrity, and deep commitment to justice make him exactly the right person for this moment.”
Congressman Pocan represents Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional District and is one of the longest-serving members of the state’s congressional delegation. A former small business owner and member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, where he served alongside Colón, Pocan is a former chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and has been one of the leading progressive voices in Washington since his election to Congress in 2012.
“Mark Pocan and I served together in the State Assembly more than two decades ago, and he has been fighting for Wisconsin families every day since. I am grateful for his support, and I will work every day to earn the trust he has placed in this campaign,” said Judge Pedro Colón.
Judge Pedro Colón is a graduate of Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was the first Latino ever elected to the Wisconsin Legislature, representing Milwaukee in the State Assembly from 1999 to 2010. He was appointed by Governor Jim Doyle to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 2010 and served for 13 years, winning election three times. In 2023, he was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals by Governor Tony Evers, becoming the first Latino to serve on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Colón and his wife Betty live on Milwaukee’s south side and have two daughters.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court general election will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2027, with a primary on February 16, 2027 if necessary. For more about Judge Pedro Colón and his campaign, visit www.pedrocolon.com. A headshot of Judge Colón can be downloaded here.
