Commissioner Julie Glancey Resignation Statement

By - Apr 28th, 2023 02:46 pm

MADISON, Wis. – Commissioner Julie Glancey, clerk Commission member and Democratic Party appointee, announced her intent to resign from her role on May 1 following a long career of supporting Wisconsin election administration.

Glancey, 72, a former Sheboygan County Clerk, was first appointed to the WEC by Gov. Scott Walker in 2016.

She was most recently appointed to the Commission by Gov. Tony Evers. Since 2022, she has served as Secretary of the Commission, and her term goes until 2026. Glancey said she chose to resign to allow someone with more recent experience as a clerk to join the Commission.

“I’m grateful to have brought my several years of experience as a county clerk to this Commission, but it’s time for me to make way for someone who can bring a fresh perspective,” Glancey said. “During my time on the Commission, I did my best to help improve election administration and ensure that all eligible Wisconsinites can exercise their right to vote. I’m also proud to have helped lead the Commission through the challenges of the past few years.”

Glancey thanked her fellow Commissioners for their service to Wisconsin voters and wished them the best in the years ahead.

Glancey’s successor will be chosen by Evers, who will appoint the new member from a list of Democratic former clerks. The new member will serve the remainder of Glancey’s term.
