Chris Moews Statement on Politifact’s Findings on County Deputies at Courthouse
Milwaukee Police Lieutenant Chris Moews (maize) issued the following statement regarding Politifact’s findings about Clarke’s use of deputies at Courthouse checkpoints.
Milwaukee – Milwaukee Police Lieutenant Chris Moews (maize), candidate for Milwaukee County Sheriff, today issued the following statement regarding Politifact’s findings about Clarke’s use of deputies at Courthouse checkpoints:
“One can’t be an effective law enforcement leader without being able to manage a budget. District Attorney John Chisholm was right to call Sheriff David Clarke out for using deputies redundantly at checkpoints entering the Courthouse, running up the costs of overtime for this duplication of services.
“Clarke’s inability to manage his department comes at the cost of millions of dollars to the taxpayers of Milwaukee County.
“As sheriff, I will commit to establishing and living within a balanced budget for the Sheriff’s Office. I will also work to eliminate the duplication of services and focus on restoring vital programs that will keep Milwaukee County residents safe.”
