Cheesehead Bobblehead Series Featuring Bucks and Brewers Unveiled

MILWAUKEE – This morning, on National Bobblehead Day, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum and Foamation Inc. unveiled the first officially licensed Cheesehead® Hat Bobblehead Series which features Milwaukee Brewers MVP outfielder Christian Yelich, Milwaukee Brewers mascot “Bernie Brewer” and Milwaukee Bucks mascot “Bango” wearing the iconic Cheesehead® Hat. In collaboration with Foamation, the originator of the popular Cheesehead® Hat, the bobbleheads were produced exclusively for the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum by FOCO, an official licensee and manufacturer of Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks merchandise.

Each bobblehead is wearing a Cheesehead hat and standing on a wedge-of-cheese Wisconsin-shaped base. The base also includes the names and team logos. The Yelich bobblehead is taking a swing at a pitch, “Bernie Brewer” is giving a friendly wave and “Bango” is spinning a basketball.

Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 1,000, and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store, at the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum (170 S. 1st St.) and at Foamation Inc (1120 S. Barclay St.). The bobbleheads, which just arrived and ship now, are $40 each or $110 for the set of three plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order for orders placed online.

Foamation Inc. has been making Official Cheeseheads since 1987. The use of the term “cheesehead” started as a derogatory word for Wisconsinites by Illinois sports fans. The term, however, was quickly embraced by those in “America’s Dairyland” and is now a point of pride.

After seeing a cardboard cheese hat at a Brewers vs. White Sox game in Chicago, Ralph Bruno later made one out of foam while he was cutting up his mother’s couch and soon started a business to sell the hats as novelties. Cheesehead products have now sold in all 50 states and over 30 nations around the world.

“We’re always thinking of ideas for unique and fun new bobbleheads and these certainly fit in that category,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “Nothing says Wisconsin more than the Cheesehead hat and Christian Yelich, Bernie Brewer and Bango are the first three in this new series.”
