Milwaukee, WIThe Board of the Charles Allis and Villa Terrace Art Museums Inc. (CAVT) is pleased to announce that CAVT Marketing Manager John Sterr has been named Interim Executive Director, effective May 31, 2014.

Sterr has excelled as the Museums’ Marketing Manager for the past three years. Most notably he founded the Milwaukee Museum Mile in 2012, with the Jewish Museum Milwaukee, Museum of Wisconsin Art At Saint John’s On The Lake, and the North Point Lighthouse, to raise the profile of its member organizations in partnershipwith each other. He has also been involved with planning and execution of membership, event, curatorial, and facilities projects at both museums.

“We are delighted to have John Sterr lead the organization as we prepare for an important transition,” says CAVT Museums President Claudia Egan. “John’s knowledge of the organization and collaborative approach, along with his passion for our mission, and relationship with staff will benefit us well as we begin the process of hiring a new Museums Director.”

CAVT Museums became its own 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 2012, becoming independent from the War Memorial Center in management of Milwaukee County’s two premier historic public spaces. “Consistency through change is most important as we begin the process of hiring a Museums Director who will build upon our recent momentum to achieve long-term success for these cherished historic arts and cultural places,” says Rob Mulcahy, Board Secretary. All museum staff will be staying in place, and our current programming will continue as normal.

Effective May 31,Sterr succeeds Maria Costello, who served as the Executive Director for the past five years.
