Cass Street School Receives Donations From Spectrum Industries to Launch Esports Lab
Cass Street School has received donations from Spectrum Industries to transform a classroom into a new esports lab. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, January 8 at 3:30 p.m. at Cass Street School (1647 N. Cass Street).
Spectrum Industries provided the school with esports desks, a shout caster station, esports gaming chairs, and gaming console hubs. In 2022, the company made a similar donation, along with contributions from Bucks Gaming, to build the lab at Reagan High School.
Milwaukee Recreation continues to expand its esports programs to young people throughout the city, including high school esports leagues and esports offerings at select Twilight Centers. The program at Cass Street School marks the department’s second foray into a lab at the elementary/middle school level.
“We are incredibly grateful to Spectrum Industries for their ongoing support of our esports programs,” said Robert Perry, Manager – Milwaukee Recreation. “This generous contribution means we can give students greater access to the recreational activities that will keep them engaged while learning new skills.”
According to research done by the Esports Education Network (EEN), 82% of students involved in esports teams are not involved in any other extracurricular activities. This underscores the value of offering esports programs for students in Milwaukee.
