Capitol Restoration Fund to Receive $78,500 from Fundraiser
The monies were raised from the Capitol Centennial Gala fundraiser that was held last month.
Madison…On behalf of the 100th Anniversary State Capitol Commemorative Commission, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) accepted a check of $78,500 from the Wisconsin Historical Foundation. The monies were raised from the Capitol Centennial Gala fundraiser that was held last month. The funds will go directly to the Capitol Restoration Fund to help make the necessary repairs to the state Assembly roof.
“It’s great to see that in the 100th year of the Wisconsin State Capitol, we’re able to ensure that it stays just as beautiful for another century,” said Speaker Vos, co-chair of the commission.
The state of Wisconsin has been celebrating the anniversary of the Capitol building throughout the year with activities, including a special Concerts on the Square last July. Currently, the Wisconsin Historical Foundation is selling a 2017 Wisconsin State Capitol Ornament, which showcases a picture of the Capitol under construction and a contemporary photo of the building. The ornament also supports the Capitol Restoration Fund.
“It has been a great year of celebrations for the Capitol’s anniversary,” said Speaker Vos. “I want to thank everyone who was involved in putting on the events to honor this remarkable building.”
The 13-member commission has held meetings for more than a year to organize the centennial events and will conclude its work early next year.
