Cantare Chorale, a Milwaukee-based community choir, is announcing open auditions for its winter 2014 semester. The choir, now in its 36th year, will hold open auditions at their rehearsal location at Adoration Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3480 W. Edgerton Avenue in Greenfield.
40 to 50 adult singers from the Milwaukee metro area comprise Cantare Chorale’s mixed choir. Led by director Lani Knutson, the group rehearses weekly from August – December and January – May in preparation for two concerts per year. The group’s winter concert will be held on Saturday, December 6, at the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center.
“We’re excited to begin our winter semester and look forward to welcoming back our returning members, while always hoping to see some new faces, “says Jim Toth, President. “We have an excellent selection of sacred and secular pieces from contemporary and classical traditions and are ready to start preparing for our winter concert. I’m confident that new and returning members, as well as our audience, will delight in this semester’s repertoire.”
Adult singers in all sections and of all experience levels are welcome to audition for Cantare Chorale. Prospective members are invited to attend one of the choir’s first three rehearsals of the season on Tuesday August 26, Tuesday September 2, or Tuesday September 9 from 7:15pm – 9:15pm. Following rehearsal, singers who wish to join the choir will meet with the director to perform a few vocal exercises and sing a short, familiar song. No preparation is necessary.
